  GTA02 aka openmoko freerunner is one of the project which tried to implement GPL at all levels, Hardware as well as Software as much as possible. At hardware level they opened up the schematics/hardware design(Open hardware/Open source hardware, Hmmmm) and at software level without doubt carried out the F/LOSS based developement. There are still arenas where the closed model is very much prevalent , like the GSM modem, graphics module, wifi, bluetooth, GPS firmware, but there are lots of materials out there which have been leaked in the public domain disregarding the NDA for those interested in the field of interest.

This platform provides the environment for those with insatiable hunger for learning new technology without wasting time/energy on countering the materialist.
